Buy tickets for the performance "Measure for measure" by William Shakespeare

Something is rotten in Vienna; moral decay and corruption have been paralysing the country. Duke Vincentio leaves government in the hands of a regent. In order to heal the country, Angelo uses law as a threat; the prisons fill up quickly. Among prisoners there is Claudio, waiting to be executed for fathering a child out of wedlock. Vincentio returns disguised as a friar, observing how the situation will develop.
“Measure for measure” is one of Shakespeare’s most subversive plays; it combines political thriller, cruelty, irony and black humour. Piotr Kamiński’s new translation of the play was directed by Oskaras Koršunovas. “This is a story about power, its tragedy and absurdities. Shakespeare asks if the rulers can be fair and ethical or whether they just use morality to gain power and use it”, says the director.
